I'm Growing My Hair, Why Do I Need Regular Haircuts?

We all know by now that frequent hair trims do not actually make your hair grow faster. Your hair grows at the same rate whether you cut it or not.

What regular trims actually do is remove split ends, which can make hair look thin and unhealthy. If left untrimmed, split ends will work their way up the hair shaft, damaging the strand beyond repair. Regular trims will stop this damage, allowing your hair to look more healthy and will actually mean you reach your desired hair length more quickly.

Which Hair Colour Should I Choose?

The colour you choose depends on why you want to colour your hair, for example if you’re covering greys or you want a dramatic makeover. We would recommend that you book in for a complimentary hair colour consultation with a Karen Wright specialist so we can help you find the perfect hair colour and technique for you.

I Used a Box Dye at Home - Can You Fix It?

Home hair colour imbalances are something that we see regularly. No-one wants patchy hair colour, dry, damaged or dull hair, so please book in for a colour consultation with our hair colour experts so that we can create a recovery plan and deliver a hair colour that is perfect for you.

I Use Professional Conditioner at Home, Why Is My Hair so Dry?

There can be many reasons for dry hair, despite using salon standard conditioner, including dehydration, using the wrong conditioner for your hair type or simply not leaving it in long enough. Shampoo your hair, gently squeeze with a towel, then comb through your conditioner - leaving for at least 5 minutes. You should see a difference in the condition of your hair if you follow this advice.

What is a Toner and Why Do I Need One?

Many clients do not understand why we add a toner after the bleaching, or lightening, process. Bleach is not a colour, it is a tool we use to remove pigment from your hair. The final colour you have actually comes from the toning process and can be used to cool or warm your hair colour, or even add fashion colours such as pastel shades.

What is a Balayage?

Balayage is the term used for one of the most popular hair colour techniques, especially following long periods of salon closures with lockdown. Balayage is a low maintenance hair colour option as the root regrowth is less noticeable than with traditional foil highlights. Balayage hair colour is painted directly onto your hair in a freehand movement, picking out the strands which would naturally be highlighted by the sun, giving you a beautifully bespoke sun-kissed look.

How Can I Protect My Hair During The Summer?

Most of us love to be in the sun and have become more conscious of protecting our skin from harmful UV rays. UVA and UVB rays can also cause damage to your hair, breaking down the keratin proteins in your hair, causing it to become dry and making your colour fade. When you are in the sun, you can use leave-in -conditioning sprays with SPF properties and wear a hat or headscarf to protect your hair wherever possible.

How Can I Keep My Scalp Healthy?

Think of your scalp like a garden - the better you look after the soil; the better the plants will be. There can be a number of reasons for an unhealthy scalp such as using incorrect products, sun damage, stress, medication, hormones or an unhealthy diet. Some factors are beyond your control but a holistic hair treatment consultation with Karen Wright can identify issues and create a plan to help alleviate your scalp concerns.

What's The One Thing I Can Do To Have Healthy Hair?

Just as each person is an individual with different needs, so is your hair. Some people have naturally oily roots, but dry or damaged ends. We would recommend talking to your Karen Wright stylist about the correct treatments and products for your hair. Our stylists are highly trained to assess your hair's needs and advise on the best professional products, or combinations for your needs - saving you money on useless products!

Which Haircut is Best For Me?

Your hairstyle should suit your face shape, your personality and your lifestyle. Your Karen Wright hairdressing expert will be able to assess the best hairstyles for you at your initial consultation and advise on a range which would suit you best.
